Za selo Kampung Pelangi koje se nalazi u gradu Semarang na indonezijskom otoku Java vjerojatno ne biste čuli da nije doživjelo potpunu preobrazbu, prilično neobičnu za ovaj dio svijeta.

Tamo gdje smo navikli da gradovi izgledaju sivo i možda na prvu neprivlačno, vjerojatno ne biste očekivali ovakav prizor - cijelo selo uljepšano duginima bojama koje izgleda kao najluđi kutak posvećen uličnoj umjetnosti. Količina fotografija koja se pojavila na Instagramu dokazuje da je indonezijsko selo Kampung Pelangi postalo hit turistička destinacija. Svemu tome kumovala je lokalna vlada koja je odlučila investirati oko 23 tisuće dolara u obnovu 223 kuće odnosno pobojati njihove fasade u dugine boje. Osnovna ideja je bila pretvoriti njihovo selo u turističku atrakciju, a u tome su i uspjeli.

Naravno, promocija ove vrste obogatila je i tamošnju ekonomiju. Lokalni su stanovnici počeli trgovati sa suvenirima i hranom koje turisti rado kupuju. U planu je obnoviti svih 390 kuća u selu u istom stilu te očistiti rijeku koja se nalazi u blizini.
