Objavljene su nominacije u sve 24 kategorije za ovogodišnju dodjelu nagrade Oscar koja će se održati 4. ožujka, a kao domaćin svečane dodjele vraća se komičar i voditelj Jimmy Kimmel. Iz dosadašnjih dodjela, kao što su Zlatni globus, SAG nagrade i BAFTA već su se mogli predvidjeti favoriti, ali bilo je iznenađenja kao i svake godine među kojima je nominacija filma "Get Out" u kategoriji najboljeg filma. Najviše nominacija odnio je film "The Shape of Water" Guillerma del Tora, a među njima su i one najvažnije: za najbolji film, režiju, scenarij te za glumce Sally Hawkins, Octaviju Spencer te Richarda Jenkinsa.
Po broju nominacija nije daleko ni film "Dunkirk", Christophera Nolana - nominiran je u osam kategorija, ali među njima nije niti jedna glumačka, dok jednu nominaciju ima film "Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri" koji je osvojio velike nagrade na dodjeli Zlatnih globusa i SAG nagrada.
